Link Counter
Monitor background link counting jobs so your site can keep internal link metrics current across posts.
Overview
Link Counter keeps link metrics up to date in the background so other SEO workflows can rely on fresher internal link data.
Admin path: Airygen SEO -> Settings -> Link Counter
This screen is mainly a status dashboard. It helps you see whether the queue is healthy, whether older posts still need processing, and when a full recheck should be queued.
Settings
This module screen is a status monitor rather than a form with permanent settings.
Queue
- Pending jobs shows how many background jobs are waiting to run.
- Failed jobs shows how many jobs did not complete successfully.
- Completed jobs shows how many jobs finished.
- Last run shows the most recent queue activity time.
- View opens the background job screen for deeper queue inspection.
Backlog
- Pending posts shows how many posts still need link counts.
- Processing posts shows how many posts are currently being processed.
- Processed posts shows how many posts already have updated counts.
- Recheck queues a fresh pass across the backlog.
- The screen notes that saving a post recalculates its link counts in the background.
How to Use
- Open Airygen SEO -> Settings -> Link Counter.
- Review the Queue metrics to see whether jobs are pending, failing, or completing normally.
- Check the Backlog metrics to understand how many posts still need processing.
- Click Recheck if you recently enabled the module, imported content, or suspect that counts are outdated.
- Wait for the backlog to settle, then reopen the screen and confirm that pending and processing counts are decreasing.
- Save or update an individual post when you want that post’s counts recalculated as part of normal editing.
Check these items after saving:
- Queue failures are not growing unexpectedly.
- The backlog count decreases after a recheck or normal editing activity.
- Processed posts continue to rise until the backlog is cleared.
- Link metrics stay current enough for your other SEO workflows.
SEO Benefits
Reliable link counts help you understand how well content is connected across the site. That makes internal linking audits, content pruning, and related-feature analysis easier to trust.
User Cases
Publishers auditing internal linking
Before: Editors want to improve older posts, but they do not know which articles are still weakly connected inside the site.
After: Link Counter keeps link metrics refreshed in the background so those audits start with current information instead of guesswork.
Sites after a large import or migration
Before: A big batch of posts is imported, and link metrics are stale or missing for much of the archive.
After: The team can use Recheck and monitor the backlog until counts catch up across the full site.
FAQ
What does Recheck do?
It queues a new background pass so posts can have their link counts recalculated again.
Why do the counts not update instantly?
Link counting runs in the background, so large sites may take time to clear the queue and backlog.
What does the warning on processing posts mean?
It usually means some posts need attention in the backlog, so you should review the queue and run a recheck if needed.
